The Mastermind behind Arrow•Ma
Meet supermom/business owner Lindsay Walters of Arrow•Ma, a company which specializes in bath, body and candle supplies in North Carolina. We had the immense pleasure of meeting Lindsay and asked her a few questions about the mastermind behind the company and why she chooses to incorporate shea butter as a key ingredient to her products. (P.S she uses sanoun shea butter!)
- Tell us about a little about yourself.
I am a working Mom of 2 growing boys. I’m originally from NY but have moved several times, most recently from VA to the Raleigh area for my husband’s and my job.
- How did Arrow•Ma come to life?
My business has evolved to a place that gives me joy! I started off as a presenter for makeup/skincare company that is known for having great mascara. I started to become interested in skincare and began making rose water for myself and selling to local customers. A few months later, one of my customers asked me if I made goat’s milk soap, so I learned to make soap and that went really well. Another customer reached out and asked if I would consider making themed boxes for sale, and that bloomed locally. When I relocated, I had various requests come through to sell items, so I decided to open an Etsy shop most recently. The name of my company is Arrow•Ma and is a combination of two things that I love: arrows, and being a Mom. When merged together it sounds like aroma, a sweet smell.
I use unrefined shea butter because it has more vitamins and fatty acids needed for elasticity in skin. I use Shea butter in my lotions, on my lips, and in my hair!
A parting gift from the creator
One of my favorite recipes: Rosemary shaving cream
- 1/3 cup shea butter
- 1/3 cup virgin coconut oil
- 1/4 cup sweet almond oil
- 10 drops rosemary essential oil (lavender is another great option)
- 3-5 drops peppermint essential oil
Directions: In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the shea butter and coconut oil, stirring until just melted. Remove from the heat and transfer to a heat-safe bowl. Add in the jojoba oil and the essential oils. Stir to mix.
Chill in refrigerator about 30 minutes. Remove from fridge and whip using a hand beater until whipped frosting consistency. Put into a container and keep in a cool dry place.
