For hair that drinks moisture and asks for more. This rich butter puts the softness back and helps keep it there. Work it through damp strands, concentrating on the ends, after water or a leave-in to moisturize and help seal in moisture.

Made for the hair rituals that hold us together: braid nights, twist outs, the quiet minutes with a comb and someone you love.

Strength, softly

Ingredients
Water (Aqua), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Benzyl Alcohol, Salicylic Acid, Sorbic Acid, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Withania Somnifera (Ashwagandha) Root Powder, Phyllanthus Emblica (Amla) Fruit Powder, Moringa Oleifera (Moringa) Leaf Powder.

We formulate with real ingredients, around their nature, not against them. We use whole butters, plant oils, and West African botanicals, gently preserved. No parabens, sulfates, phthalates, silicones, synthetic dyes, or mineral oil. Nothing compromised.

How to use

Work a small amount through damp or dry hair from mid lengths to ends, wherever hair feels dry or thirsty. Use more on thick or high porosity hair, less on fine strands. Perfect under twists and braids, and for refreshing hair between wash days. For external use only.

A note from Nina

After my second child, my hair could not seem to stay moisturized. It felt soft on wash day, then dry as the Sahara by morning.

This butter grew from learning to seal moisture into damp hair instead of fighting it. I hope it helps your hair hold on to moisture and makes your wash day care last longer.

The women who know these trees

Our shea is gathered and hand processed by a women's cooperative in Bougouni, Mali, the way it has always been done. Their work is seen and fairly paid. From Bougouni to your home, we make every product in small batches in North Carolina.

Start with your porosity

How Hair Butter works with your porosity

Use your porosity to choose the right starting amount and method for this rich butter.

Closely layered cuticle edges

Low porosity

Slow to take in water; rich product may sit on top.

For leave-in: start with ¼ teaspoon

Warm between your palms and smooth a very light layer over damp ends. For pre-wash, use 1 teaspoon with gentle warmth for 10–15 minutes, then shampoo.

Moderately layered cuticle edges

Medium porosity

Takes in and holds water steadily.

For leave-in: start with ½ teaspoon

Warm between your palms and smooth over damp strands and ends. Observe how your hair responds before adding more.

More raised and irregular cuticle edges

High porosity

Takes in and loses water quickly.

For leave-in: start with 1 teaspoon

Layer Hair Butter over water or leave-in, working it through strands and ends. Reinforce the ends with Hair Oil as needed.

Soft skin. Nourished hair. Rituals you can trust.

Whole-ingredient care, made by hand, from Bougouni to your home.
